Week: Saturday 11th October 2025 - Friday 17th October 2025.

Autumn birding has really kicked off with the arrival of Redwing, Fieldfare and Brambling en masse.  Yellow-browed Warbler and Firecrest are always something to look forward to and this week delivered at least 6 and 10 respectively.  A further sighting of Hoopoe takes the number of sightings this year up to 6.  Slavonian Grebes have returned to Beddmanarch Bay - pretty much to the expected date based on the returning dates over the past 5 years.  But for many the bird of the week will have been the White-rumped Sandpiper at Malltraeth cob - a bird which until this year hadn’t been recorded on the island.  Today’s bird will become either the 1st or 2nd record depending on the deliberations of the Welsh Birds Rarity Committee.  There were no new additions to the cumulative year list which remains at 227 (LISTS), subject to acceptance of records to be considered by the appropriate rarity committee.
