Week: Saturday 20th May - Friday 26th May 2023

A belated report from last week of a Turtle Dove at Rhoscolyn (19th).  A section of the Cors Ddyga RSPB reserve with no public access had a Quail, Little Stint and a Wood Sandpiper (25th).  There was a report of a Balearic Shearwater of Cemlyn (22nd), which is atypical with the majority of Anglesey records coming in the late summer / early autumn following a post-breeding dispersal from the Mediterranean.  The month of May is always a good one for Sanderling, but this week numbers were very much above those normally seen with 40+ at Traeth Crigyll (22nd) and Silver Bay (23rd).  A record of successful breeding of Eider around Moelfre was noteworthy.  The 2023 Anglesey year list to date hits 200.
