Week: Saturday 27th July 2024 – Friday 2nd August 2024.

It would be premature to bid farewell to Summer having just moved into the month of August, but bird sightings do point to the end of the breeding season and preparation for onward migration.  The first report of a sizeable roost of Barn Swallows came in of 500+ at Cors Ddyga, while Arctic Terns have all but left Cemlyn while numbers of Sandwich Terns dwindle fast.  Cefni reservoir always provides some notable counts of Mute Swan and Little Grebe at this time of year, with 74 Mute Swans and 63 Little Grebe noted during the week.

Waders again provided one of the main subjects of interest, with 16 species noted during the week.  It is time to start seawatching if the winds become favourable.
