Week: Saturday 17th August 2024 – Friday 23rd August 2024.

A week that was still largely dominated by wader sightings.  Perhaps more evidence of the return of wildfowl with Wigeon reported from 2 sites.  Passerines hard to find with few warblers.  Despite Common Redstart breeding in Snowdonia / Eryri, it is still a scarce bird on Anglesey and this week’s sighting was only the 4th report of the year.  Whinchat and Northern Wheatears perhaps point further to a little bit in the way of passage migration, while a good count of House Martins perhaps suggests birds preparing for their journey southwards.  Still slow on the seawatching front – need the wind to shift to the NW.
