More returning waders, a tantalising report of a White-tailed Eagle and a Roseate Tern showed well over a couple of days.

 

Swans, Geese & Ducks:

Eider

·       7 & 5 between Beaumaris and Penmon (29th).

·       14 off Lleiniog (3rd).

Waders:

Green Sandpiper

·       1 at Traeth Dulas (1st).

Common Sandpiper

·       4 at Moel-y-Don (29th).

·       Up to 7 at the Alaw estuary (7 on 30th, 6 on 2nd ).

Greenshank

·       2 at the Alaw estuary (3 on 30th, 2 on 2nd).

·       2 at Traeth Dulas (2 on 3rd, 1 on 1st).

Redshank

·       2 at the Alaw estuary (2nd).

·       5 at Holyhead harbour (2nd).

Bar-tailed Godwit

·       1 at Red Wharf Bay (29th).

·       37 at Lleniog (3rd).

·       4 at the mouth of the Alaw estuary (5th).

Black-tailed Godwit

·       2 at Lleniog (3rd).

Whimbrel

·       3 at Traeth Dulas (1st).

·       2 seen from boat trip along Menai Strait (3rd).

Curlew

·       Up to 56 at the Alaw estuary (56 on 30th, 41 on 2nd).

·       30 at Traeth Dulas (3rd).

Oystercatcher

·       151 at the Alaw estuary (2nd).

Seabirds & gulls:

Roseate Tern

·       Up to 2 at Cemlyn (2 on 2nd, 1 on 30th & 3rd).

Sooty Shearwater

·       1 reported from Holyhead to Dublin ferry according to a National Bird Information service (5th).

European Storm Petrel

·       1 reported from Holyhead to Dublin ferry according to a National Bird Information service (5th).

Mediterranean Gull

·       Up to 5 at Cemlyn (5 on 4th, 2 on 30th).

·       Up to 25 at the Alaw estuary (25 on 2nd, 2 on 30th) – 25 on the 2nd consisted of 16 adults, 5 2nd summer and 4 1st summer. 

Puffin

·       1 flew between Puffin Island and mainland (29th).

·       9 at South Stack (1st).

·       Several at South Stack (30th).

Black Guillemot

·       Up to 5 off Penmon Point (29th).

Divers & Grebes:

Great Crested Grebe

·       5 at Beddmanarch Bay were the first returning to coastal water (1st).

Passerines & others:

Kingfisher

·       1 at Traeth Dulas (3rd).

Stock Dove

·       1 at Traeth Dulas (3rd).

Raptors:

White-tailed Eagle

·       Unconfirmed report of 1 seen SE of Cemlyn (2nd).

Marsh Harrier

·       Male at Cors Ddyga (2nd).

Herons, Egrets & allies:

Little Egret

·        15 at Traeth Dulas (1st).

·        18 in cattle field behind Beaumaris Castle (3rd).
