The Turtle Dove reappeared at Traeth Bychan after a two week absence, while waders provided one of the main sources of interest.  There were no new additions to the year list, which remains at 211 (LISTS)

Swans, Geese and Ducks:

Common Scoter

8, flew past The Range over a 1hr seawatch (7th).

Eurasian Wigeon

1, drake at the Mitigation Pool, Inland Sea (6th).

1, female at Cors Ddyga (8th).

Eurasian Teal

1, at Llyn Llywenan (7th).


Waders:

Common Sandpiper

3, at Malltraeth (6th).

2, at Llyn Llywenan (8th).

6, at the Alaw estuary (9th).

1, at Traeth Dulas (11th).

Greenshank

3, at the Alaw estuary (9th).

Common Redshank

Up to 2, at the old brickwork pool, Traeth Duas (2 on 7th, 1 on 9th).

Bar-tailed Godwit

1, at Beddmanarch Bay (6th).

Black-tailed Godwit

2, at Beddmanarch Bay (6th).

2, in summer plumage at Traeth Dulas (9th).

Oystercatcher

Whimbrel

1, flew past Silver Bay, Rhoscolyn (5th).

1, at Penmon Pool - colour ringed Yellow C75 (6th).  Subsequent information showed that the bird was ringed by the SCAN group at Aber Ogwen on the 02/08/20 and was seen there again on the 28/07/21.

Curlew

1 - among flock, at Penmon Pool - colour ringed Black 5E (6th).  Subsequent information showed that the bird had been ringed as a juvenile female at Llanrhystud in October 2018 and had been seen at Penmon over the past 3 years.

Roseate Tern

Up to 2, at Cemlyn (2 on 9th, 1 on 6th, 1 on 11th).

Mediterranean Gull

c 50, at the Inland Sea (6th).

1, at Beddmanarch Bay (6th).

4, adult summer plumaged, 2 2nd calendar year and a juvenile at Traeth Dulas (8th).

c. 10, seen feeding on flying ants above Holyhead (10th).

24, off Penrhos Coastal Park (11th).

Kittiwake

23, flew past The Range over a 1hr seawatch (7th).

Manx Shearwater

271, flew past The Range over a 1hr seawatch (7th).

c. 80, past Cemlyn (9th).

Gannet

14, flew past The Range over a 1hr seawatch (7th).

Divers & Grebes:

Nothing of note.

Passerines & others:

European Turtle Dove

1, presumed the same as the 26th & 27th June, at Traeth Bychan (10th).

Grasshopper Warbler

1, reeling at the Inland Sea (9th).

Common Starling

c 150, at Traeth Bychan (5th).

Hooded Crow

1, hybrid with Carrion Crow at Traeth Dulas (7th).

Raptors:

Osprey

1, at Malltraeth (6th).

1, at the Inland Sea and presumably the same over Four mile bridge (8th).

Marsh Harrier

1, at Llyn Llywenan (7th).

Red Kite

Up to 2, at Llyn Llywenan (2 on 8th, 1 on 6th & 7th).

Cattle Egret

1, on the seasonal flood area, off Gorad Road, Valley (11th).

Great Egret

2, at Cors Ddyga (6th, 8th).

1, heard calling again at Cemaes Bay (5th).
