3 new additions to the 2023 year list, with Northern Wheatear (18th), 2 Osprey (22nd) and a late addition of  Ring-necked Parakeet (late February / early March).   The year list rises to 163.

·   1 on a ploughed field near the Range, Holyhead (18th)

·        1 reported at Amlwch Port (20th)

Black Redstart

·        1 at Rhoscolyn (22nd-23rd)

Cetti’s Warbler

·        1 at Llyn Cefni (18th)

Chiffchaff

·        7 at Llyn Cefni (18th)

Swallow

·        1 at Llyn Llywenan (23rd)

Sand Martin

·     Up to 20 at Llyn Llywenan (20 on 23rd, 2 on 18th)

·       Up to 110 at Llyn Cefni (110 on 24th, 60 on 21st, 2 on 18th)

·        18 past Hen Borth (22nd)

Hooded Crow

·    1 seen on fields from Ynys y Fydlyn car park (22nd)

Ring-necked Parakeet

·        Belated confirmation that 1 was still being seen during late February / early March in the Fern Hill area of Benllech.  While there is some speculation as to its origin, it has been counted in the year totals for previous years so from a consistency perspective it will be added to this year’s list.

Osprey

·     1 seen from Penmon flying west over the Menai Strait (22nd), with 1 in off the sea at Red Wharf Bay before flying south (22nd)

Hen Harrier

·        ‘ring-tailed’ at Cors Ddyga (20th)

Marsh Harrier

·        3 at Cors Ddyga (18th)

Red Kite

·         Up to 2 at Talwrn (2 on 24th, 1 on 18th)

·        1 at Dolmeinir (21st)

Goshawk

·   Male flew east past Mynydd Bodafon (22nd)

Merlin

·        1 at Henborth (22nd)

Barn Owl

·        1 at Cors Ddyga RSPB (23rd)

Herons, Egrets & allies:

·        1 roosting at Ynys Welltog (19th)

Great Egret

·        Up to 3 at Llyn Llywenan (3 on 19th, 2 on 18th)

Water Rail

·        1 at the western basin of Llyn Cefni (21st)
